The Earth element parallels the periods between the seasons, the last days of each season, the Center, flat shapes, and the color yellow. It corresponds to the digestive system, the mouth, and the spleen. Earth element people renew their strength in the late afternoon and during the periods between seasons, and are invigorated by their keen sense of taste. The feng shui direction assigned to the Earth element is the Center, which represents practicality, endurance, and flat, square shapes.

The Earth element represents the period of life from ages 25 to 36, the young adult period characterized by stability, reliability, productivity, and common sense. The nature of Earth is to stabilize, to keep whole, and to preserve. The Earth element is symbolic of the mother's protected womb of peace and safety. Those with an Earth daymaster are practical and sensible. They have excellent organizational abilities and are competent leaders and executives. Stability, practicality, and reliability characterize those influenced by the Earth element. Its natives are capable of making wise and sensible decisions, and tend to be conservative and serious.

Earth element natives are firmly anchored to their family, their partnerships, and their homeland. The Earth element keeps both your feet firmly planted on the ground and gives you the innate tenacity that allows you to complete arduous tasks. However, Earth daymasters can also produce obstinate and unbendable individuals. The emotion associated with Earth is melancholy/depression, which may make you seem distant or unapproachable. Like the rocks that make up a wall or the soil that produces food, Earth element people are traditional, firm, and persistent. The Earth is closely tied to the stomach and the mouth.
