Sang Kha Tan (Giving Alms) to Monks

As I have received voluntary Sang Kha Tan offerings from devotees who wished to donate clothes, daily necessities, food...etc to the monks in Thailand, this thread is created to account for those who also want to take part.

Sang Kha Tan is also called giving alms, and it is often conducted during important festive periods in Thailand as devotees wish to exercise their compassion, to support monks in their living, practices and generate good merits for the self and loved ones. It is also a way to learn to give and to let go.

The sense of self is one of the greatest sufferings. We spent our whole life gathering riches but not knowing that we have also become slaves to them. But by learning to give, we let go of our bondage to selfishness and in the process come to a state of liberation. We learn the philosophy behind Buddhism, being good, and giving back. We come to realize the ultimate satisfaction that compassion brings, and its power to change ourselves and the world we live in.

In Thailand, such giving of alms are usually packaged together and quality bundles with a range of items, are approximately priced at 50, 80 or 120 which may include monk robes, daily necessities such as soup, tooth brush, rice, noodles, biscuits, fruits, stationery, shoes......etc.

If you are interested to take part in this meaningful event, kindly provide your and your loved ones' names and who you wish to dedicate the merit towards.

Thank you very much for your kind support and Happy New Year. Donation can be sent via the following:
